The vibrant Costa Rican environment will improve your language skills and give you valuable insights into its people and its culture.

Programme Highlights
This is a rare opportunity to work with monkeys and other animals in their natural habitat, the heart of the Costa Rican rainforest. You will be caring for sick or injured animals, helping to maintain the facilities and acting as a guide for visitors to the centre. You will also play a part in helping release the animals back into the wild when they are ready - a truly rewarding experience. Work closely with exotic and threatened animals, especially monkeys, and contribute to their survival. Your duties will include feeding and caring for monkeys, preparing their food and guiding visitors.

Where I Live ?
Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica.

Global Xperience
Accommodation is at the Rescue Centre itself, sharing with other volunteers. Meals are included.

Qualifications and Minimum Skills
You will need to be happy living in the rainforest environment without all the usual luxuries of home, and have a dedicated attitude to the cause. It would also be a great help if you can speak some Spanish so you can talk to the locals.

What can I do in my spare time?
The Guanacaste Province has plenty of highlights if you want to spend sometime touring. There are archaeological digs that have discovered excellent pottery and ceramic artifacts and an eco-museum. For a cultural experience that is quite unique visit El Museo del Sabanero - a cowboy museum at honours the lifestyle of those olden day workers. There are also plenty of local arts and crafts to buy. Lake Arenal, the site of Costa Rica’s biggest hydroelectric plant, offers water activities like windsurfing and freshwater fishing.
