  This placement would suit... Help Thai elephants in need while learning more about them and their habitat, the Thai jungle. You'll learn about Thai elephant communication and behavior, tracking them in the jungle, staying with them overnight, and treating them when they're sick. Your role will also be important in preserving the forest and working with the local villagers.

Programme highlights
Your role will be to rescue elephants from abuse and distress. You'll help the project by assisting in a variety of roles, including looking after the elephant herd and protecting the local environment.

Where will I live ?
Chiang Mai District, Thailand
You will be living in traditional Thai bamboo huts in the very heart of the elephant park. Sleep beneath the stars and wake up to the awe-inspiring sights and sounds of the Thai countryside. This is a fantastic opportunity to truly experience conservation at grass-roots level... it doesn't get any more authentic than this.

Qualifications and Minimum skills
You will need a good level of English, and most importantly, a passion for nature, wildlife and conservation.

What can I do in my spare time ?

The more spiritually inclined can attend yoga and thai chi classes as well as learn to meditate. The area is also rich in traditions and you will be fascinated by the local crafts and markets.
