Drama courses, Sydney Name: The Actors College of Theatre & Television (ACTT) Address: 505 Pitt Street, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia   The Actors College of Theatre & Television (ACTT) is the leading private college for the performing arts in Australia. Based in central Sydney, the college is in the heart of backpacker and student life and accommodation. Making new friends and getting immersed in the joys of city, surf and trekking activities soon becomes a reality. Gappers can get their student visa as a result of enrolling on these courses, which also permits paid work for up to 20 hours a week. The college has five accredited courses in acting and technical production that are registered for international students as well as for local students. The tutors are the finest professionals in the performing arts industry, combining their ongoing professional work with their teaching skills. They, combined with the excellent curriculum, ensure students capture and explore their talent in a very mature and nurturing environment. The most popular course for gappers is the four-month, full-time (four days a week) Certificate III in Theatre Performance & Practices (the Core). This is an outstanding foundation course for anyone interested in gaining acting skills either to progress to further study, to develop their communication and presentation skills or simply to enjoy the experience. There are a maximum of 25 students on each course of the Core and there might be students from other countries as well as Australians and gappers. Students are thoroughly immersed in acting, acting for camera, singing, dance, performance technology and the staging of their own production. Graduates receive an internationally recognised qualification that can assist them with any career path they should take. Intakes for the Core are in February and September each year so whenever you travel to Australia in your gap year there is the option of enrolling on a course. For people who want to stay in Australia longer than a year, and have a passion for acting and an ambition for a career in acting, then the Diploma in Performance Practice, leading to the Advanced Diploma of Arts in Stage & Screen Acting, is the qualification course for you. ACTT also offers a Certificate III in Live Production (Technical Operations) and an Advanced Diploma of Stage Management for students interested in lighting, sound and staging in the entertainment industry.
