India is a beautiful, captivating country that has for centuries attracted travellers from across the globe. GapGuru offers you the chance to experience the Indian subcontinent in all its many forms and to be more than just a tourist.

GapGuru is the India specialist and we work with people of all ages from 18 upwards, providing innovative, exciting and productive programmes tailored to suit the needs of each individual. With GapGuru you can choose to go to India from four weeks to a year, combining as many or as few modular programmes as you wish to really experience India. Your time out with GapGuru will be challenging, add value to your CV and be a totally different but fulfilling and memorable experience. GapGuru’s community development programmes offer the opportunity to undertake valuable volunteer work and gain a unique experience whilst providing charity organisations with much needed assistance. Participants can also work in a wide range of other areas including conservation, hospitals or teaching.

As a developing country, India still has many impoverished areas that rely on the help of charities and volunteers. Through volunteering with GapGuru you can make a real difference to the lives of those marginalised by their poverty, vulnerable and needing an education.

With GapGuru you have the opportunity to work with a brilliant and innovative organisation in Delhi that manages rehabilitation projects for children so that they can get access to education, housing and all the support that they require in a family environment.

Volunteer at the women’s centre in Calcutta - this is a really inspiring organisation that runs many initiatives in education, training, income generation and empowerment for the women and children of Calcutta helping them out of poverty.

Don’t be put off if you have no prior experience, all you need to get involved is enthusiasm, passion, motivation, dedication and time and we will match you to a project that best suits your skills. All our projects take on a minimum of two volunteers at a time, so you will not be alone on a placement and all accommodation will be provided either in family home-stays or rented accommodation. Plus a local GapGuru representative will be on hand to help you out should the need ever arise.
