Animal conservation with Outreach International![]() Name: Outreach International Address: Bartletts Farm, Hayes Rd, Compton Dundon, Somerset, TA11 6PF ![]() ![]() Tel: 0845 344 7588 Welcome to Outreach International. We offer a range of gap year projects of three to six months duration in Mexico, Cambodia, Ecuador and The Galapagos Islands. Outreach International is committed to cross-cultural exchange and education. It combines the desire of young people to travel and work in voluntary projects overseas with the needs of local communities. Two of our animal conservation projects are outlined below... 1) At the wildlife rescue centre, animals are rescued from poachers who sell them illegally as pets and attempt to smuggle them out of Ecuador. Volunteers are needed to help feed, water and care for them until they are fit enough to be released into their natural environment. 2) Crocodile protection project: a unique opportunity for volunteers to get directly involved in a wide variety of activities concerning the research, maintenance, feeding, capture and release of crocodiles. You will learn how to correctly handle the animals, take scientific measurements and enter data into computers. This project is of particular interest to biologists and zoologists. 'One day we were out tracking bears on foot. An old lady stopped us on a remote path and started handing out sugar cane fudge. Everyone is so friendly, just chatting, taking us fishing, horseback riding or blackberry picking. Walking on a remote Andean hillside is so spectacular... I would really, really recommend this project' - Esther Grundy, bear project
