This placement would suit... People with a passion for animals and wildlife who are keen to pack as much as possible into a South American gap year!

Learn Spanish high in the Andes in beautiful Sucre, volunteer at an animal sanctuary deep in the Bolivian Rainforest and explore South America - from the Andes to the Amazon.

Language Phase

Learn or improve Spanish in beautiful Sucre, the tiny colonial capital situated high in the Andes. Mornings are taken up with practical Spanish lessons, whilst afternoons are spent exploring Sucre using your new-found language skills! The focus is on conversation and tutors will take you into town and to local markets to develop the art of bargaining South American style! Weekends are for visiting the local sights, including the breath-taking salt-flats and a visit to a mountain retreat.

Project Phase

A rare opportunity to gain hands on experience looking after endangered species such as monkeys, jaguars, and pumas rescued from illegal traders in the heart of the Bolivian jungle. Volunteers are needed to work at the only two sanctuaries of their kind in the Bolivian Amazon, to help rehabilitate animals back to health and prepare them for release into the wild.

QuestThis is a unique chance to gain real hands on experience with animals and is ideal for people who get a buzz out of being in the wild.

Inti Wara Yassi - the 'old' land

As a volunteer you will be responsible for your own wild animal during the project. You could have a parrot on your shoulder, help teach a spider monkey to forage in the wild or even walk through the rainforest with one of the pumas.

Ambue Ari - the 'new' land

You'll live in the depths of the jungle helping to develop the new larger park ready for the movement of all the animals from the old land. The new land of Ambue Ari is much more remote and natural and has been bought through the contributions made by Quest and volunteers.

This is an immensely valuable project, a world away from anything you'll have ever seen before.

Expedition Phase

QuestThe final phase is an awesome 6 week Andean Explorer Expedition. Your journey takes you from breezy snow-capped mountains to lush Amazon Rainforest, through a wild mix of landscapes, culture and wildlife. En-route you’ll go sand surfing, trekking, downhill mountain biking, ice climbing and white-water rafting - you'll have the chance to try just about every crazy activity you can think of and more! Your expedition culminates with the epic Inca Trail to ‘Macchu Pichu’, the enchanted lost city of the Incas nestled deep in the lush green Andean Valleys.
