Join Quest and partners Rainforest Concern to help protect Chile’s temperate rainforest and preserve one of the few precious fragments of monkey-puzzle forest that remains in the world. A land of volcanoes, white-water rapids, thermal springs and virgin forests, and home to a huge diversity of animals and plant species, the Chilean Lake District will dazzle you with its beauty.

The Project

Despite the fact that the region is internationally recognized as a Global Conservation Hotspot, there is surprisingly little known about the ecology of the Chilean forest fauna. What is known however, is that the scale of forest clearance has left areas of pristine ancient woodland isolated and confined to the least accessible mountain and upland areas, and created a whole range of threats to biodiversity.

Volunteers are desperately needed to carry out biodiversity surveys alongside researchers from top scientific institutions worldwide. Work will be mostly conservation based and includes reforestation, biodiversity surveys and information collation.

Days off can be spent visiting thermal springs, trekking volcanoes and taking advantage of the adventure sports available in the adventure capital of Chile!

Due to a huge amount of interest we have now followed the project with a two week adventure through southern Chile, including horse trekking, white-water rafting and a week's skiing in the Andes. Give us a call to ask for more details.
