Academy programme Developed in consultation with a wide range of leading experts, the Academy aims to translate youthful talent into a successful, long-term playing career by developing the right skills, mental attitude, physical fitness and a superior knowledge of how the game is played. The course also offers a wealth of alternative opportunities to becoming a professional rugby player. The programme gives individuals the training required to pursue a career as a coach, referee, administrator or other ancillary roles within the modern game of rugby. For each student, the Academy programme covers the following aspects of the game... - Rugby fundamentals- Continuity, rucks and mauls - Scrum and lineout - Backline play - Team play - Alternative rugby games - Sevens rugby Outstanding facilities and support All students will enjoy the unrestricted use of the rugby facilities and support services at the Academy. The African experience Experiencing the beauty and wildlife of South Africa is an essential part of the programme, as is trying the assortment of adventurous activities South Africa is so renowned for, including anything from skydiving to dune surfing! All Academy students will therefore be able to enjoy some of the following activities and excursions during their time on the programme...- A visit to the Addo Elephant Park - A visit to the Seaview Lion Park - A boat trip across Algoa Bay to St Croix Island - A visit to the surfing Mecca of the World - Jeffrey's Bay - An authentic evening meal under the stars at a Boma - eating the African way Accommodation: During the programme you will be staying at the our comfortable Guest Lodge.
