IntroductionDivemasters and Instructors are PADI professionals, qualified to get paid diving jobs around the World. This option can open the door to a completely new lifestyle and career. Dive centres need Divemasters to organise dive trips, assist with the instruction of divers and lead underwater tours. Instructor is the next level up, focusing on teaching dive skills. Instructors are needed to conduct a broad range of programmes for both new and experienced divers. Our programmes take you from your current dive level (if any) up to PADI professional. Divemaster and Instructor are demanding, fun and rewarding courses that develop and assess a wide range of dive skills and knowledge. Divemaster programmeOur programmes take you up to Rescue Diver first and then you are able to start the Divemaster course, which is scheduled as an intensive 17 day course. This combines theoretical classroom sessions with practical application during pool and open water training. What's included
The number of liveaboard trips (and therefore dives) can be tailored to your needs, depending on your current dive experience. Instructor programme Instructor courses are run every month and take two weeks. Courses include the PADI Instructor course itself and all PADI fees and materials. If you are serious about a career as an Instructor, we recommend also considering the Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) prep course which includes five Instructor Specialties. Location and lifestyleYou will be based in the fun city of Cairns, the doorway to the Great Barrier Reef. The Great Barrier Reef is a natural wonder of the World and has been declared a World Heritage Site. It encompasses 350,000 square kilometres of the South Pacific Ocean and is made up of 2,900 individual reefs and 71 coral cays. Its ecosystem supports the greatest concentration of life on this planet including 1,500 species of fish, 350 different corals, 4,000 species of molluscs and 10,000 species of sponges. The dive school we work with has 16 exclusive dive sites on four spectacular outer reefs. The Thetford, Pellowe, Milln and Flynn reefs are situated on the Outer Great Barrier Reef, South East from Cairns. These sites are rarely visited by other vessels so divers have the opportunity to view magnificent corals and fish life without the crowds. Cairns (population 92,000) is the major centre for the Queensland region and is one of Australia's top traveller destinations. The city is home to many great adventure activities from white-water rafting to skydiving and it has also become well known for its major party scene so you won't be short of entertainment! Dates, duration and prices To go from beginner to Divemaster takes approximately 1 month, or less if you already have a dive qualification. Divemaster courses start every week. The Instructor course takes 2 weeks and runs once a month. Divemaster prices range from £995 if you are already a Rescue Diver to £2095 if you are a beginner. To do the Instructor course is an additional £1650. Our users say: "This is just a quick email to tell you that I am now a fully qualified OWSI (Instructor). Now I'm off to (hopefully) find a job somewhere around the Caribbean!" - Alex "Very informative and easy. I felt reassured to have the support as it was my first time having to organise such a trip.
