Cambodia
Teaching, Conservation and Angkor Wat

Join a team of volunteers getting stuck into the roots of Cambodia. Split your time on rewarding conservation and community projects in two vibrant and contrasting locations found north of the capital Phnom Penh. The first is at Cambodia’s hippest town Siem Reap - a real party place where East fuses with West in spectacular fashion. The second at Battambang close to the border with Thailand where you’ll experience a more rural and peaceful lifestyle!

How and where you can help?

Siem Reap

  • Provide clean water through the Trailblazer Foundation In Cambodia 60,000 children die each year many due to waterborne illnesses exacerbated by the countries habit of drinking water out of pit wells. We are now working with the dynamic Trailblazer Foundation, a local NGO who’s main aim is to provide clean water to impoverished areas. This is done through bio-sand water filters that remove 98% of the bacteria. You will help build, set up and demonstrate these filters in the local villages.

  • Teach in a Children’s Orphanage Teach at an orphanage about 35 minutes from Siem Reap out in the countryside. They rely on our funding which makes a huge impact to their lives. There are about 40 children aged 4 to 14. Not all don’t have parents some are there because their parents are simply to poor to bring them up which is heartbreaking. What you will find is happiness and enthusiasm in spades.
  • Educate communities about the benefits of recycling with The Sam Veasna Centre Work with the local staff helping the resident artist painting bins - one for paper and one for bottles. Spend time educating the children about the importance of throwing litter away properly, re-cycling and keeping the streets clean!

Battambang
Teaching EnglishTeach children and young adults aged 10-20 at a new school in the Ksach Poy Village. The villagers are poor and as a result most children don’t go to secondary school as they cannot afford the fees and are needed in the fields. This school is free and allows children to come in at times that suit them and their family responsibilities. It provides the opportunity to learn a foreign language viewed as their fastest ticket out of poverty.
