This placement would suit... Someone who has a love for volleyball and who wants to make a difference through coaching keen and very talented schoolchildren in Ghana. If you love volleyball and would like to inspire Ghanaian children to love it too, this would be a good project for you. You'll make your mark and have a lot of fun in the process!Volleyball is Ghana's second most popular sport after football. You'll see Ghanaians play the game all over the country. Very few schools in Ghana have a volleyball court or the space to put up a court, and many children don’t have the opportunity to play. As a Travellers volunteer volleyball coach, you'll be doing your best to change this. The school is also enthusiastic about having volunteers organise matches between teams within the school and possibly arranging tournaments between themselves and other schools. As there is very little sporting infrastructure for volleyball in Ghana and not much chance for children to play competitively, we are very passionate about providing the children of Ghana the opportunity to not only learn to play volleyball from an experienced coach but the opportunity to compete within volleyball. We are also keen to expand this project to other schools in the area to give as many children the opportunity to play volleyball as possible but this can only be achieved through volleyball coaches coming to Ghana to expand the program and provide funding for equipment through there donations.Close to the volunteers accommodation is a community volleyball court where you can possibly do some extra coaching to local children after school or on weekends, exposing more children to volleyball. As the court is not often used, we feel there is the opportunity for volunteers to help set up a social volleyball club, or run coaching clinics, which local children could attend.
