  This placement would suit... This project is a well established and exciting project which has successfully integrated conservation, tourism and community development. In order to continue delivering excellent value and results as the project expands, it depends on Volunteers with skills to offer and the will to contribute to the conservation and development in Africa

Programme Details
You'll fill an important skill and manpower gap in the administration and daily running of the project. You'll pass on skills, education and new ideas to the Kasanka staff and community members, helping to enforce anti-poaching laws and participating in wildlife monitoring.

Where will I Live?
Serenje, Zambia

You will be staying in a traditional brick or thatch hut, either on your own as part of a complex or sharing with one other person. All meals are included.

A passion for community work and dedication to see jobs through are the main requirements of this program. You must be prepared to live in rugged conditions and live without the luxuries of home.

What can I do in my spare time?
During your time at the project you can do various activities like walking, canoeing, game viewing and bird watching. There are many places of historic significance and scenic beauty in the area. If you are after culture then you can take in a traditional village, the Nasalu Cave with its Stone-Age rock art and the Livingston Memorial where the famous explorer David Livingstone died. If its natural splendour you are after there are many attractions ranging from the 65 meter high Kundalila (Crying Dove) water to the Lavushi Manda National Park another project the Kasanka Trust is involved in.

You can camp at the Kapishya Hot springs that offer an incredible rejuvenation experience and great bird watching in a gorgeous setting. An absolute must is the Luangwa Valley with its incredibly dense population of big game and magnificent sense of space.
