Elements of CKW

Wildlife

Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary:
Our main wildlife project is based at The Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary. Mwaluganje is one of the most beautiful locations and it has the densest population of elephants per square mile for anywhere worldwide. You will typically spend 4-5 days at the sanctuary and the focus is to develop wildlife initiatives, which benefit the local communities and in turn the elephants. One of our most successful projects is the production of the infamous ‘elephant dung’ paper. This paper is made by our volunteers and sold to bring money the area, thus creating a positive to the presence of the elephants.

Primate Conservation:
The Colobus Trust is a conservation organisation designed to promote the conservation, preservation and protection of primates like the rare Angolan Colobus monkey (Colobus angolensis palliatus) and its coastal forest habitat in southern Kenya. The Trust specialises in animal welfare, biological/ecological research, community development and education, forest protection and enrichment and eco-tourism awareness programmes.
You will undertake a three day Primate Conservation workshop to enable you to develop skills that can then be put into practice as part of our ongoing conservation work.

Camps InternationalSafari:
No visit to Africa is truly complete without one. A 3 day safari is included in your stay and you will drive out every day with a guide in specialist vehicles for game viewing drives, it's rough, it's dusty and it's everything you could want from a real Safari! You will look out for all big game and with the Big Five regularly spotted; you have good odds for some great sightings.

Ocean

We work in partnership with Southern Cross Scuba and Water Sports. Whether it’s your first time diving or you want to gain a higher qualification, we will find you a PADI diving course that suits.

If relaxing on the beach is more your thing then you will have ample time to do this too, the weekends are normally your own and we provide scheduled camp transport to take you to the beach. Diani Beach is a great spot and with plenty of beach bars and restaurants to choose from, there is always a great social element to your trip.

Mountain

Mount Kenya:
As the highest mountain in Kenya at 4985 metres, this is an amazing 5 day trek where you will walk through some of the most stunning scenery Kenya has to offer culminating in a night ascent of the summit, ready to watch the African sunrise. Our success rate of getting you to the top is over 90% and the personal feeling of achievement is extraordinary.

Camps InternationalKilimanjaro:
Kilimanjaro is the highest free-standing volcano in the world and the tallest mountain in Africa . At an altitude of 5895 metres it presents a formidable challenge. We take our time and as such over 95% of our climbers reach the top.
