This placement would suit... Any certified Open Water diver wanting to become a Divemaster, enabling them to gain paid work overseas.

Qualify as an internationally-recognised Divemaster and get paid to assist at dive schools worldwide. Enjoy African adventure and safaris, and swim with awesome marine life such as sharks, dolphins, seals, whales and more.

If you are a certified PADI or NAUI Open Water and Advanced Diver, the GAP SPORTS International Diving Academy will provide you with both the professional instruction and world-class facilities that will enable you to become a fully qualified Divemaster and gain employment at diving schools worldwide. Furthermore, you will be taught to dive amongst some of the most breathtaking reefs and diverse sea life the ocean has to offer.

The perfect place to dive...
The five-week Rescue Diver to Divemaster course is run at our Scuba School in South Africa's Plettenberg Bay, originally named 'Bahia Formosa' ('Beautiful Bay'), and the area lives up to its name with stunning marine reserves, soft coral reefs, dolphins, seals, sharks and the endangered Southern Right whale. Plettenberg Bay offers the perfect place to advance your diving abilities and our dive instructors have the experience needed to make you into a confident and knowledgeable diver, capable of assisting other instructors overseas.

African adventure
Each week you will receive four days of dive tuition and one recreation day. This will give you the chance to experience some truly authentic African adventure. A number of adventurous excursions and social events are included in your project fee. You will be able to enjoy a number of different activities including canopy walks, abseiling, canoeing, mountain biking, horse riding as well as boat trips to see the abundance of marine life breeding at this time of year, such as seals, bottle-nosed dolphins and whales. Plettenberg's rivers, beaches and the bay itself are also ideal for a wide range of watersports, including surfing, sailing and superb rock and surf fishing. You will also, no doubt, get to enjoy many beach Braais (South African barbeques) and a Boma (an evening meal under the stars, the South African way!).
