This placement would suit... adventurous people looking to experience one of Africa's lesser discovered paradises. Explore the Indian Ocean Reefs, navigate the coastal rivers and have a kick about with the locals! Spend 4 weeks on an experience of a lifetime, in one of Africa's last untouched paradises. Learn to scuba dive in the turquoise waters of a world heritage site; canoe down un-chartered waters off the Guvuru river; and travel like true adventurers on a dhow boat expedition. Your last week is spent coaching football to local children, ending your adventure by giving something back. Adventure Programme ItineraryThis programme is perfectly suited to sports enthusiasts looking to take part in something different during their gap year or career break. Week 1: PADI Open Water Scuba CourseAfter settling into your new home near the shores of the Indian Ocean, you will begin your PADI Open Water Course. The warm opaque waters will provide the perfect base for you to learn to scuba dive, before embarking on your open water dives on the '2 mile reef' of the Bazaruto Archipelago. Week 2: River Canoe ExpeditionThis week is spent on a navigational challenge, as you negotiate your way down Mozambique's Rio Guvuru in your canoes. You pass through a dramatic variety of terrains including deserts, lush bush and mangrove swamps. With task-orientated activities each day, you can learn as much or as little as you want from our fully qualified local guides. Week 3: Dhow Boat ExpeditionThis is one of the most popular and exciting parts of the entire expedition. Using a traditional African Dhow boat, you sail around the pristine white islands of the archipelago, with the opportunity to snorkel and scuba dive amongst the different reefs, spotting hundreds of varieties of tropical fish, dolphins and hopefully the dugong. Week 4: Football Coaching Community WeekThe final week is spent getting to know the seaside community of Vilanculos. Working specifically with the local football teams, you'll organise training sessions and short games, before holding a tournament. Prizes will be awarded to the best teams and players, giving an extra incentive for the children to play as hard as possible! LocationVillancoulos and the Bazaruto Archipelago, Mozambique Accommodation and MealsThere is a combination of camping and staying in a basic, yet comfortable, beachside lodge.
