This placement would suit... those with a real desire to see the country. Teachers in Japan can earn more than in most other countries so teaching can be a great solution to those struggling to travel on a shoestring! Japan has a unique culture so you’ll need to be flexible in your approach to people and work. The ages of your students range from six to young adults, so consider how to tailor your teaching accordingly. As with all teaching jobs you will have to work hard but the rewards will be worth it!

If you're interested in Japanese culture, becoming a teacher is one of the best ways to see the 'real' Japan; a fascinating land of contrasts from the tranquility of majestic snow-capped mountains to the hectic pace and vibrant life of its capital city Tokyo. By working in a state school system, you'll get to learn a great deal about the Japanese daily routine and life through interacting with students and teachers.

That's not forgetting, it offers some of the highest paid teaching work on the planet, so not only will you be deeply immersed into a truly fascinating culture; you'll also earn up to £1050 per month - enough to pay your own way and explore the exquisite country at your feet or even fund your further travels.

While you're teaching in Japan you may even pick up a bit of the local lingo! Learning basic Japanese is not difficult, and with a little effort you will appreciate a new found independence in what you can read and hear as well as be appreciated by the people around you whether in school, town, or during a trip.

It's important to always be open minded; Japan moves in its own way and at its own time. So don't worry about feeling weird - it's just a different culture!

The finer details...
By taking an i-to-i TEFL job in Japan you will earn around £1050 a month. Please note, you will need to undertake an interview for this placement.
